AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

- TEMA Wednesday: Mosaic underway for BRC Senior Citizen Center in Chinatown, lower Manhattan. Artists: Clare Herron and Edwin Vasquez. (Read More)
- Voices Her’d: The team are working on the theme of women and consumerism. Artists: Katie Yamasaki & Erika Gil.
- Portfolio: Four day spring intensive in painting and drawing, with a drawing session held at the New York Academy of Art. Artist: Conor McGrady. (Read More)
- TurnStyle/Segue: Running consecutively on Thursdays, serving youth arrested for minor offences. Artists: Chris Beck, TurnStyle; Jessica Poplawski, Segue.
CMAP (COMMINITY MURAL ACTION PROGRAM)
- Aspirations High School: Anti-Gun Violence mural painted in school’s main corridor. Painted by students and artists Bayunga Kialeuka and Chris Beck.
- Legal Studies High School: Mural addressing the U.S legal system in school’s main corridor. Painted by students with artists Bayunga Kaileuka and Jessica Poplawski.
- CASA - Lutheran Hospital: Parachute cloth mural completed with Sunset Park High School students, and installed in Lutheran Hospital Chinese Ward. Artist: Mauricio Trenard.
- PS 506: Mosaic mural project at the entrance to the school. Artists Clare Herron and Chris Beck with students through the school’s magnet program.
- Trust for Public Land- PS 176: Mural for the school’s new playground as part of Trust for Public Land’s schoolyard renovation. Painted by 5th graders with artists Yana Dimitrova and Jessica Poplawski.
- Brooklyn High School for the Arts Choir Room: Mural for the school’s Choir Room painted by students with artist Conor McGrady.
- Rikers Island Academy Arts Education: New York State Council on the Arts funded arts education project for integrating mural making into the school’s English Language Arts Curriculum at Rikers Island Academy Rose M. Singer Center facility with female youth offenders. Artists: Chris Soria & Menshahat Ebron.
- DOT Mural Project: Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Mural project with Millennium Community Development in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn. Team of Millennium after-school middle school students from MS 76 working with Nicole Schulman and Menshahat Ebron.
- Trust for Public Land-PS7X: Mural for the school’s new playground as part of schoolyard renovation. Team of students working with artists Yana Dimitrova and Jessica Poplawski.
- Fortune Society/RIDE-Rikers: Mural project for Fortune Society RIDE program at Rikers Correctional Facility with adult males. The Mural will be painted at the RIDE office entrance at Rikers. Artist TBD.
- Red Hook/New Amsterdam: Five pre-project sessions in collaboration with Miles4Justice & Human Rights Watch, working with Red Hook Youth Court participants in preparation of the Human Rights summer mural project at the Red Hook waterfront. Artists: Chris Soria and Nicole Schulman.
- Lutheran Family Health Center: Three pre-project day long sessions in collaboration with Lutheran Hospital, working with Sunset Park HS participants in preparation for a Lutheran Family Health Center summer mosaic mural project. Artists: Clare Herron and Chris Beck.
- DOT-Traffic Safety: The Traffic Safety Sign Residency is engaging 5th grade students in 5 NYC elementary schools and students in 2 middle schools. Artists: Chris Soria & Nicole Schuman.
- Brooklyn High School for the Arts: Arts Education: Five spring semester residencies with Groundswell artists working in partnership with teachers at the school to integrate visual art into the school curriculum. Artists: Conor McGrady, Nicole Schulman, Jonathan Bogarine & Chris Soria.
- Lang Public Art Squad: Roving Public Art Seminar at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at the New School. Instructor: Conor McGrady.
