Groundswell & New School for Social Research Honor Diego Rivera

Groundswell Community Mural Project is working in conjunction with the New School for Social Research to commemorate the destruction of  Diego Rivera's iconic mural "Man at the Crossroads." The mural celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, and the project is part of a world-wide effort to commemorate the spirit of the piece. At the New School, 10 students are working under the guidance of Groundswell artist Youme Landowne to learn about the mural-making process and reinterpret Rivera's piece. This project marks the 2nd semester of collaboration between Groundswell and the New School, and both are looking forward to a year-long class scheduled for the upcoming school year.

The completed mural's dedication is scheduled for 11 AM, May 9th, 2008 at the New School's Albert List Academic Center at 65 Fifth Ave. For more information about the mural or the dedication contact Youme at youmeland@yahoo.com.
