On the wall
Greater Heights Than They Could Have Imagined
Post date: Wed, 05/27/2015 - 10:11
Through collaborative mural projects like those highlighted in our FY14 Annual Report, Groundswell inspires hundreds of New York City teens each year to get involved and stay involved, gain skills to prepare them for college and careers, and become agents of social change, transforming public spaces and themselves in the process.
This summer, through Groundswell's Summer Leadership Institute, 100 youth will gain the inspiration, tools, and agency to take ownership of their futures.
They will get their hands dirty creating monumental works of public art that will bring together communities around key issues affecting New Yorkers, including police-community relations, justice and equity in education, and gender-based violence.
They will climb the scaffold to achieve greater heights than they could have imagined.
At the top, they will be artists, collaborators, spokespeople, activists, and so much more.
We are pleased to invite you to take a moment to help us reflect on an incredible year for community public art in New York City by viewing our FY14 Annual Report, and we hope you will consider making a tax-deductible gift to our scholarship campaign to support a Groundswell youth this summer.
More than one third of the youth participating in our Summer Leadership Institute each year rely on a $600 Groundswell scholarship to participate.
Your gift makes it happen.
