On the wall

80 - 90% OF WOMEN HAVE BEEN HARASSED IN PUBLIC *

Categories: Interviews, Video

This summer, twenty young women started a conversation about catcalling with a 200-foot-long mural in Bedford-Stuyvesant, as part of Groundswell's Summer Leadership Institute.

The conversation is moving from the street to social media, as Groundswell partners with THIRTEEN to tell their stories.

In the second of three video segments, the muralists share how the community responded to their design.

Some women's faces lit up in acknowledgement. Some men had questions. Some had angry comments. People have a lot to say about street harassment.

Add your voice to the conversation and help spread the word: a person's body is not public space.

Respect is the strongest compliment.

Share this video and comment on social media with the hashtag #groundswellnyc.

And look for the final episode this week on THIRTEEN.
