Christian Homsey

Christian first engaged with Groundswell through the Summer Leadership Institute in July 2016, assisting with Stapleton’s mural design in Staten Island. He later joined the staff in January 2017 as the Studio Arts Associate.

Christian was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he still lives presently. He is currently in the process of completing his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Hunter College. Christian is a self-taught artist and musician (guitarist). He focuses primarily on drawing, painting and multimedia design work.

Christian believes that art is capable of promoting positive change, growth and perspective within individuals and our society. He also believes in the story-telling of art and the ambiguous messages that it may hold. Christian is grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate with the youth in a constructive and creative form.

“I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
