Collaborating to Create Change

A youth-- who just a few short years ago was arrested for graffiti and truancy-- gets an acceptance letter from Pratt Institute to study graphic design.

A community plagued by traffic fatalities, high rates of environmentally-induced illnesses, and a lack of green spaces gains a monumental new backdrop for presenting a safer streets proposal to the New York City Department of Transportation.

Over fifty new works of public art are collaboratively created to bring attention to social justice topics that are underrepresented in the public dialogue, from the prison-industrial complex and young women's reproductive health, to environmental justice and educational equity, beautifying communities all across the city.

These are just a few of the ways that together, we have created a positive impact this past year on Groundswell's youth participants, community partners, and the visual landscape of New York City.

Check out this video to hear Groundswell Youth Artist, Nathaniel James, share how Groundswell has impacted him, and has provided him with the tools to start making an impact of his own.

As a committed friend, I hope you will consider a tax-deductible, year-end gift to help us continue to create positive change in the coming year at www.groundswellmural.org/give
