Support Summer Jobs for Youth

Categories: News

This summer, public art will move in next door to more than 20,000 public housing residents.

Through Groundswell's Summer Leadership Institute (SLI), 120 youth and ten professional artists will design and paint five large-scale murals at public housing developments that are wrestling with ways to reduce crime and increase safety.

The Public Art/Public Housing mural project will engage youth and their neighbors in artmaking and community-building, while bringing attention to justice and equity issues that affect residents of public housing.

Read more about Public Art/Public Housing in the New York Times.

Each year more than one-third of SLI youth rely on a Groundswell scholarship for their paychecks. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to support a summer job for a youth artist.
